Firm Overview

From our office in Edwardsville, Illinois, the attorneys of the Weinheimer Opel Law Firm represent clients all over the Metro-East as well as St. Louis, in addition to national companies with local ties. Above all, we strive to develop long-standing relationships with our clients in order to offer the best possible legal advice.

We recommend solutions to resolve today’s legal challenge with our client’s future success in mind.

Our business law practice includes representation during every stage of a business’s life cycle, and our clients come from a variety of industries, including agricultural, health care, education, hospitality, professional services, construction and real estate. Our estate planning and estate administration practice represents business owners and individuals to help them accomplish their goals, whether they be asset preservation, probate avoidance, estate tax planning, communicating health care wishes or passing wealth to the next generation. We also offer particular expertise in business succession planning. At the Weinheimer Opel Law Firm, we are focused on our clients’ short-term issues as well as their long-term goals to ensure the best advice possible for their families and their businesses.

Our mission: cost-effective, high-quality, and responsive legal services.

Prior to transitioning into his own firm, Mark Weinheimer was a principal/shareholder at a national law firm with more than 750 attorneys. While the breadth and depth of the legal knowledge at a large firm proved valuable for such distinct client legal issues as patent infringement or certain governmental regulatory matters, Mark’s ambition of providing cost-effective, high-quality, and responsive legal services for his clients simply was no longer closely aligned with the aspirational goals of a large law firm.

Mark’s legal practice—focused for more than twenty years primarily on the business, real estate and estate planning needs of family-owned businesses, closely-held companies, and their owners and management personnel—was instead determined to more aptly be provided via a small law firm.

The firm was able to grow with the addition of Kathie Opel in May 2015. Kathie, an estate planning and business attorney previously with another sizeable law firm based in St. Louis, is very much like-minded with Mark in both her professional and personal goals.

Our commitment: meet client needs; exceed client expectations.

We are sincerely committed both to meeting our clients’ legal needs and to exceeding their expectations. We do this in a casual, personable firm environment that places a strong emphasis on community activities and events. The rewarding career and personal satisfaction we derive from this model shows: you can count on the fact that we are happiest when we successfully support our clients and our neighbors.
